How do I adjust my display brightness?

This article will guide you step by step through adjusting your display brightness for both macOS and Windows users.

MacOS

If one or more of your SmartDesk Connect monitors appear dull/dark, then disable ‘High Dynamic Range’ for each monitor.

  1. In macOS Catalina 10.15.4 or later, choose Apple menu > System Preferences.

  2. Click Displays. Three Display Preference windows will appear, one for each SmartDesk Connect display.

  3. Deselect the High Dynamic Range checkbox for each display. NOTE: You’ll have to disable it for each monitor, a total of 3 checkboxes.

For additional brightness controls, download Nightshade from the Mac App Store. It’s a free utility that allows you to control display brightness from the menu bar.

Windows

  1. Open the SmartDesk Display Controls program. NOTE: You can download this from the SmartDesk Connect program after you’ve arranged your displays.

  2. Adjust the Brightness slider to your liking.

For additional brightness controls, download Monitorian from the Microsoft Store. It’s a free utility tool that allows you to adjust the brightness of multiple monitors from the Windows taskbar.
